Introduction
We’ve all been there. You’re scrolling through your Instagram feed, you see a post about the newest Star Wars character, Boba Fett, and you think to yourself “Wait… who is that?”. If you were born after the mid-nineties, it’s likely that your only exposure to Boba Fett is through pop-culture references and his appearances in The Mandalorian. But what many people don’t know is that Boba Fett has a long and rich history in the Star Wars universe, dating back to the early days of the Expanded Universe.
For those of us who grew up with Boba Fett, he was always more than just a cool looking bounty hunter with a jetpack. He was an enigma; a tough as nails anti-hero who always seemed to be at the center of the action, even though he rarely said more than a few words. His Mandalorian armor and mysterious past made him an instant fan favorite and in many ways, he became the face of what it meant to be a bad guy in the Star Wars universe.
It’s no surprise then that when Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, one of their first orders of business was to bring Boba Fett back into the fold. In The Mandalorian, we finally get to see what Boba Fett has been up to since we last saw him in Return of the Jedi and while he may not be the Boba Fett we remember from our childhoods, he’s still every bit as cool as we remember him being.
Who is Mando?
Mando is a character in the Star Wars universe who first appeared in the TV series The Mandalorian. He is a mysterious bounty hunter who wears a helmet that covers his entire face, making him unrecognizable to even those who know him.
Mando’s real name is not known, and his past is largely a mystery. It is hinted that he was once a member of the Imperial military, but he eventually left and became a Bounty Hunter. He has since worked for various factions, including the Rebel Alliance and the New Republic.
In the television series The Mandalorian, Mando is hired by a client to find and capture an energy source called “The Child.” However, Mando soon discovers that The Child is actually an infant alien known as a “Yoda.” When Mando returns The Child to its home planet, he decides to protect it from the Imperials who are after it.
Mando is a skilled warrior and an excellent marksman. He is also very resourceful, often using whatever he can find to his advantage. For example, in one episode he uses a droid’s restraining bolt to electrocute an enemy.
Although Mando is often cold and calculating, he does have a soft side. He develops a bond with The Child, and protects it at all costs. He also demonstrates compassion towards other creatures, such as when he helps wounded animals on several occasions.
Overall, Mando is a complex and intriguing character who has quickly become a fan-favorite in the Star Wars universe.
Who is Boba Fett?
Boba Fett is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is a bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader to find the Millennium Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and return its occupants to him. Fett also appears at Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Return of the Jedi (1983). He is one of the main characters of both those films.
Theories on whether Mando is Boba Fett
There are many theories about who the character Mando is in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. One of the most popular theories is that Mando is actually Boba Fett, the legendary bounty hunter from Star Wars.
There are several clues that point to this theory. For example, both characters wear similar armor and have a similar helmet design. Additionally, both characters are skilled in combat and have a reputation as being tough and dangerous.
While there is no definitive answer, the evidence suggests that Mando could be Boba Fett. Only time will tell for sure!
Reasons why Mando could be Boba Fett
While it has not been confirmed that Mando is Boba Fett, there are many reasons to believe that he could be.
Mando was first introduced in the Disney+ show The Mandalorian, which is set in the Star Wars universe. In the show, Mando is a bounty hunter who wears a suit of armor that covers his entire body. He also wears a helmet that obscures his face, and he speaks in a voice that is artificially distorted.
Boba Fett is a character from the Star Wars franchise who first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back. Boba Fett is also a bounty hunter who wears a suit of armor that covers his entire body. He also wears a helmet that obscures his face, and he speaks in a voice that is artificially distorted.
One of the biggest pieces of evidence that Mando could be Boba Fett is the fact that both characters wear very similar armor. It’s possible that Mando’s armor is based on Boba Fett’s armor, or vice versa. It’s also possible that both characters are wearing Mandalorian armor, which would explain the similarities between their suits.
Another piece of evidence is the fact that both characters have helmets with T-shaped visors. This visor design is unique to Mandalorians, and it’s possible that both Mando and Boba Fett are Mandalorians. If this is the case, then it’s likely that Mando is Boba Fett since Boba Fett was introduced beforeMandos .
The fact that both characters have distorted voices could also be evidence that they are the same person. It’s possible that whoever created Mando based his voice on Boba Fett’s voice, or vice versa.
There are many other similarities between Mando and Boba Fett, but these are some of the most notable ones. Until Disney+ or Lucasfilm confirms whether or not Mando is Boba Fett, we can only speculate.
Reasons why Mando couldn’t be Boba Fett
Mando couldn’t be Boba Fett because:
1. He’s not Imperial
2. He’s not a Mandalorian
3. He doesn’t have the same helmet
4. His armor is different
5. He’s not a clone
Conclusion
Because we don’t know what happened to Mando after the events of Return of the Jedi, it’s impossible to say for sure whether or not he appears in the Book of Boba Fett. However, given that Boba Fett is known to have interacted with several Mandalorians over the course of his career, it’s certainly possible that their paths may have crossed at some point. Until we get more information, though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
What do the creators say?
The character of Boba Fett is shrouded in mystery, which has led to many fans speculating about his past. One popular theory is that Mando, the protagonist of the Disney+ show The Mandalorian, is actually Boba Fett. But what do the creators of the two properties say about this theory?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian, was asked if there was any truth to the Mando=Boba theory. He responded:
“I think that’s been talked about a lot online and it’s definitely something that’s been on my mind. I wouldn’t want to spoil anything, but I think there are a lot of fun Easter eggs in the series for people who are thinking about that.”
Favreau’s comments seem to suggest that there may be some kernels of truth to the theory, but he’s not willing to confirm anything just yet.
Meanwhile, on the official Star Wars website, authorTim Vegeraio was asked if Boba Fett would be appearing in his upcoming book The Bounty Hunter Code: From the Files of Boba Fett. He replied:
“The quick answer is no — at least not in person. This isn’t a story about Boba Fett; it’s the story of how he became the renowned bounty hunter we all know.”
So it seems that, for now at least, Boba Fett’s origins are still a mystery.
What does the fandom think?
In the season two finale of The Mandalorian, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) was reintroduced to fans. This version of Boba is different than the one seen in Return of the Jedi, as he is now much older. Some fans are beginning to wonder if this new Boba Fett could be the same character from the Star Wars book series, “The Book of Boba Fett.”
While there has been no confirmation from Lucasfilm or Disney, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. Some believe that the new Boba is indeed the character from the books, while others think that he is a completely different character.
What do you think? Is Mando in the book of Boba Fett?
Which theory do you believe?
With the release of The Mandalorian season 2, fans are more eager than ever to learn the titular character’s true identity. While there are many theories floating around, the two most popular seem to be that Mando is either Boba Fett or Jango Fett. Here’s a look at the evidence for both sides.
Theory 1: Mando is Boba Fett
The first clue that Boba Fett could be Mando comes from the fact that they both wear very similar Mandalorian armor. In fact, Boba’s armor is even based on the same design as Mando’s (you can see this in The Empire Strikes Back when he first appears on screen). Additionally, both characters have missing helmet visors, which could be a clue that they’re the same person.
Theory 2: Mando is Jango Fett
While it’s true that Boba and Jango share many similarities, there are also some key differences between them. For one, Jango is a clone of Mandalorian warrior Jaster Mereel, while Boba was born naturally. Additionally, Jango was raised on Mandalore while Boba was raised on Tatooine. Finally, while both characters are skilled warriors and bounty hunters, Jango has always seemed more inclined to follow orders while Boba often works alone.
